Ign.com release 4 images & 3 videos:

Gaming website ign.com has again released some more images and videos of Saints row 2. Gary Busey returns again on the three latest videos that are available. As you can see three of the latest screenshots are pictured above – the other image is located in our gallery. Impressive explosions can be seen from the images.

The videos give us details on motorbikes, the police and heavy weapons that are available to use in the city of Stilwater. Firstly, this is the motorbike video:

The ign.com article gives details about the types of bikes we can expect in Saints row 2. This is what they had to say:

Standard:
If you want proven reliability without the frills and pretension demanded by "new age" bikers, you'll swear by this rock-solid baby. The impeccable balance of power, stability, and maneuverability delivers the perfect motorcycling experience to riders time and time again.

Crotch Rockets:
Aerodynamic, sleek, powerful, and color-coordinated are just a few of the compliments people will pay this lightning fast missile humming between your legs. Perfect for racing neon-lit streets slicked with fresh rain, the unparalleled speed and acceleration will make you the envy of loitering illegal street racers everywhere. Repetitive thumping electronic techno-music soundtrack CD optionally included.

Dirt bike:
Who needs shiny chrome tailpipes and squishy seats so deep your ass develops bedsores every time you take a ride? Splatter mud over the potbellied, hog-riding, leather-clad competition with 200cc's of engine power and all-terrain tires that offer surprising speed and agility in a compact package.

Scooter:
Nothing says sexy like fuel economy. Feel the wind in your hair on a practical and stylish scooter while marveling at the tight turning radius and the non-existent risk for speeding tickets. Sure, the lightweight body means that even low speed collisions with chipmunks will probably result in certain death, but at least those pesky environmentalists won't give you any grief about non-renewable resources.

Streetfighter:
Stock factory setups are for chumps. If burning rubber with a unique look is your thing, this bike is guaranteed to turn heads. Custom sprockets and shocks come in handy for aggressive violation of traffic laws.

Chopper:
Step aside, pretenders – this rumbling beast is the original king of the road. Double your overcompensation with ferocious amounts of both girth and length as your custom-built exhausts create air and noise pollution with each and every rev. Intimidation on two wheels never looked so good.

The second video that we are able to view is about the police, here is the video:

We are told there will be 5 different levels of notoriety, ign.com details each of the 5 levels:

Level 1

  • If the Police see the players, gangs, or civilians committing crimes they'll respond with non-lethal force. Those weapons include a night stick, pepper spray, a stun gun, or even their fists. Their main objective is to arrest the criminal, although accidents do occur.
  • Even at this stage the cops can be dangerous since non-lethal weapons have a tendency to incapacitate perpetrators for short periods of time, providing an opportunity for law enforcement officers to dish out some extra damage. Don't tase me bro.

    Level 2

  • The Police are actively looking for the perpetrator, using the standard squad cars, new Police motorcycles, wavecraft, and helicopters (if the chase has lead to the sky).
  • The Police will not hesitate to use night sticks and other non-lethal weapons but if the perpetrator escalates the situation, the cops will oblige, using their standard NR-4 side arm pistols and pump action shotguns to fight back.
  • If the player takes a civilian human shield the cops will stop firing and attempt flanking maneuvers.

    Level 3

  • The Police are actively creating roadblocks using riot vans manned by SWAT officers and their AR-50 assault rifles. Non-lethal means no longer exist, and arrest is not an option.
  • The Police also deploy squad cars and speed boats, and SWAT helicopters will attempt to drop off SWAT officers at the scene to block off the area. Smokin'.

    Level 4

  • In addition to setting up manned roadblocks with the 'Bear' APC and its 360 degree mounted machine gun, the Police now utilize extreme measures. With the arrival of the 'Tornado' attack helicopter with its laser guided rockets and massive rotary mini-gun the perpetrator had better seek cover or an RPG launcher.
  • If the player grabs a human shield, even a police officer, it will have little effect. Human shields won't last long when they're soaking up a barrage of Police gunfire.

    Level 5

  • The Police call in the FBI and their heavy-duty reinforced SUVs. FBI agents are extremely efficient, armed with either the AS-14 Hammer semi-automatic assault shotgun or the AR-50 assault rifle.
  • The 'Tornado' attack helicopter will orbit above the battlefield while unleashing a fiery barrage of justice with its laser guided rockets.
  • Level 5 Police Notoriety is the true test of one's skills, weapons and luck. Now would be the time to call in your co-op buddy for back-up.

The last video on offer is about heavy weapons, this is the video:

    The Annihilator Laser-Guided RPG:
When facing a high notoriety level, it's common for the SWAT team to unleash their highly powerful assault helicopter. Nothing solves the job better than the Annihilator. Simply lock-on to the target using the laser-guided tracking system, pull the trigger and watch as the fiery wreckage plummets to the ground.

    The Flamethrower:
In Stilwater, well armed gang members always travel together in clusters. If faced with this situation while walking down the street, the best way to clear a path is to fire up the trusty flamethrower and host your own private BBQ.

    The Chain Gun:
Missed the train? Bring it to a stop by unloading your chain gun's 200 round clip into the speeding locomotive, then get out of the way.

    The Chainsaw:
In one-on-one melee weapon combat, the person with the biggest advantage is always the guy with the chainsaw: it cuts through metal, wood and bone, and leaves you with a satisfying feeling of accomplishment.

    Weapons video and images:

In any game such as Saints row 2, one of the major selling points is the weapons we can use. If decent weapons are one of the things you look for in a game, then it’s a good thing you are reading this article! Ign.com has released several images of what the weapons in Saints row 2 is going to look like; also, even greater is a 2 minute video to accompany it! Firstly watch the video then I will discuss some of the interesting things I found from the video:

I won’t be able to go into too much detail today with the findings from the videos; discussion is up on our forums if you wish to register to have your say about the video though. One thing I must say though above all else, did everyone see that choke-slam?! Pure class! I can’t imagine GTA IV having anything like that in its weaponry. The link to the Ign.com video and images are here. Our weapons gallery has all of the images from todays news article, if you wish to view the other images click here.

    Ign.com release 5 images:

5 new images have to today been released by ign.com. I am a great believer in pictures speaking a thousand words, so I will keep the writing to a minimum for this news story. New things that we are able to see from the pictures are, China town, as of yet no images have been released of this new area of town. Probably the base for the Japanese/Chinese gang The Ronin, they we found out about in an article released a few weeks ago.

The Ultor corporation headquarters, I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to storm that place, or as the picture may suggest drive a plane into the building! Monster trucks are also seen for the first time, it seems nothing will be able to stop them at top speed, as the road block finds out! The last image is of a helicopter that is battling with the Ultor Corporation, notice the nice explosion, also what was good to see is the man in the far right corner of the screen, cowering away from the explosion. It seems people will be a lot more responsive to actions that happen in the game now.
I didnt want to say too much on this issue as I am more excited about the other news story from today. So as always, if you wish to take a look at all the images for yourself click here

All three Saints row 2 gangs revealed:

Saints row gave us the Westside rollers, a gang that had a bit of an Asian influence to it, they seemed to have an endless amount of members pulling up in their royal blue cars trying to gun you down. The Los Carnales, a gang with a Hispanic influence to it, founded by the father Hector, the gang was run by Angelo Lopez with the help of Victor Rodriguez, they had strong ties to the Colombian drug lords; this helped them to afford the mansion that they lived in. Lastly was the Vice Kings, a gang run by influential business man Benjamin King. Things now have changed for Saints row 2, as some of you already know and some of you may not know all three of the gangs in Saints row were defeated by the 3rd street saints, the gang that you were apart of.

An article released by totalvideogames.com has an exclusive interview with Volition's Greg Donovan. A lot of the information that we are told from the article is stuff we already know, however half way down the interview, the following question is asked “TVG: You're introducing three new gangs in Saints Row 2: the Sons of Samedi, the Ronin, and the Brotherhood. All three seem to follow very distinct racial lines, for instance the Ronin are very obviously Japanese in origin, whilst the Samedi are overtly Voodoo and Caribbean. After the three very hip-hop orientated gangs of Saints Row 1, why was the decision made to do that?” Although Greg did not seem too pleased about answering the speculation about the gang names he gave this answer “How do you know about the three gangs? You're not supposed to know that! I'm not going to talk about any of the gangs other than the Sons of Samedi. What I will say is that generally speaking, I think we've done a really, really good job in making these gangs stand out more than they did in Saints Row 1. You're going to know which gangs you're fighting at the time, and you'll have to change strategies when fighting one gang against another.” Two of the other gangs many people have heard about before, The Ronin are a gang which many people are not familiar with. We have not seen many screenshots of this gang any way unlike the Sons of Samedi and the Brotherhood gangs.

It seems this time around the feeling is a lot different for the gangs that will be tearing up the newly developed Stilwater, The Ronin, as mentioned above seem to have a bit of an Asian feel to them, this is nothing new for a Saints row title, however the other two gangs, a biker gang and a gang originating from the Caribbean will give Stilwater a totally different vibe to it. More details will of course be posted when we know more about the gangs but at the moment at least we officially know the names of all three gangs and what type of gangs they are. Ign release 3 screenshots:

Has been a busy day today for Saints row 2 news, this should be the last one for today. Three new screenshots have been released by IGN.com. One of the images I am particularly interested in, a character that we have been seeing a lot of recently (The black man with the grey vest and track suite bottoms) is seen lying on the floor with the female character over him, could this be some kind of revenge mission? For most of the other screenshots it seems as though the man was helping us out. So it can be one of two things, either the man gets killed by another gang OR we have to kill him ourselves for some reason. Be sure to click the link below to enter our forums and have your say on the matter. Again if you wish to view more images take a look at our gallery: Click here

    New Gamespot.com article & 5 new screenshots:

Today has seen the release of a new gamespot.com article. The people at gamespot.com were given the opportunity to have another go at Saints row 2. The first taste they had of the Xbox 360 and PS3 game lead them to destroying a drugs lab in a trailer park run by the Sons of Samedi. This time around they were taken back to the same area and as the writer explains “Our goal was to destroy five trailers being used as labs, and thanks to a cheat that afforded us infinite ammo for every weapon in our arsenal, we had no shortage of toys with which to accomplish it.” Although this part of the article teaches us nothing new, we are able to build images in our head as to what the lay out of the mission will be like. A bit further down the article, new details are released discussing the human shield feature that we will be able to use “When you no longer need your human shields, you have the option to execute them with a quick headshot (that doesn't work with the RPG, we discovered; you just break their necks instead) or simply push them away--preferably toward a fire or fast-moving vehicle so that there's no danger of them trying to exact revenge.” It was also discussed that cops and gang members will cease fire if you are holding one of their own. The rest of the article discusses a mission that takes place in a plane; there is an image of this mission though, so I shall say no more except that an image can say a thousand words.
As the article title mentions, there are 5 new screenshots to view three of which can be seen above the other two are seen below. One of the images shows a fight happening in a strip club of some sort. For the first time we are able to clearly see the “brother hood of Stillwater” logo. The other image below shows a female character riding a jet ski and shooting at two cops who are on a speed boat. The bridge behind the character looks very impressive indeed.

As always if you wish to view the article for yourself click here.

    2 new screenshots found:

Not many updates have been avaliable for Saints row 2 over the past few weeks, however a few new screenshots have emerged. One of the pictures shows us another view of the helicopter that we will be able to fly. I believe the character that we are seeing is the man that was being created in the player customization options. The second picture I am very excited about, it seems the graphics are improving everytime new screenshots are released. You only have to look at the muscle definition on the character to see this. The tattoo's on the mans laying on the ground also excite me, the tattoo looks totally customised, may be this will be a feature we will be able to use in Saints row 2. This update I will keep short, but yet again you can see the pictures for yourself here.
