Does Saints row 2 have a release date yet? The short answer is NO! Many egger gamers may be wondering when GTA IV rival, Saints row 2 is due for release. At the time of writing, just to clear things up there is no official release date for Saints row 2.
I know many people have been wondering what the official release date is due to the amount of sources available giving estimated release dates, but the truth is I dont think many, if any companies know the real release date. The majority of people believe the release date for Saints row 2 will be at the end of 2008, with the release of GTA IV on the 29th of April 2008, the developers of Saints row 2 will be in no rush to bring the game out. Making sure all of the games features, from crib customization, motorbikes, female characters and surfing on cars will need to be top notch to make sure Saints row 2 is competing with GTA IV. Be assured that saintsrowtwo.co.uk - one of the only Saints row 2 fan sites, will be one of the first places to let everyone know when the PS3 and Xbox 360 game is due for release. We have now added a weapons section to the site. With the recent amount of screenshots that have been made available a host of new weapons have been seen. Screenshots and images of Saints row 2 seem to be appearing on the net a bit more regular now. The graphics look a lot more realistic than the images that were released by 1up.com a few days ago. Many of the images seem to be from prison scenes, there appears to be one screenshot where you and some of your gang are in a prison of some sort, may be this could be one of the missions from the game? With the impending release of GTA IV on the 29th of April 2008, one question for everyone that is a fan of Saints row appears to be wondering just how Saints row will compare to GTA IV. Having played the majority of the grand theft auto titles myself and enjoying the same gaming experience as most other people, it would seem that Saints row 2 is going to have to be something extra special to be compared in the same sentence as GTA IV. As a big fan of the first Saints row I felt the need to create this fan site for Saints row 2 to show the progress that the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 game is making.

Australian gaming website Gameplayer.com.au has recently released an interesting article debating on the Saints row 2 vs. GTA IV question. The arguments from both sides are very strong and some interesting points have been made. I decided to host a poll on this website to see what people thought of the debate, the results were very interesting indeed, may be people that visited this site were just being biased or may be people genuinely think that Saints row 2 has the potential to be a lot better than GTA IV but from the 70 results that were cast 51% of people thought that Saints row 2 “will be a lot better”.

My opinion on the question being asked is that looking at the graphics that GTA IV developers, Rockstar have produced, the makers of Saints row 2, Volition will have to produce something exceptional to compete with GTA. One of the things that I personally like about Saints row is being able to make your own character, as we already know in Saints row 2 it is going to be possible to customise everything about your character from his voice to nationality, this is a feature that should appeal to a lot of people, however there will of course be some people who like using just the one character that the GTA games produce. I guess it is just a matter of personal preference. As of yet the amount of quality screen shots for Saints row 2 has meant that comparing the two games at the moment is a bit difficult, at the time of writing we know quite a lot of details about the features of Saints row 2 but no doubt there will be a lot more to surface over the next coming months. One of the things you can ensure about a Grand Theft Auto title is that the features in the game will be top notch, especially now with the capabilities of both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 both games will have the potential to have some amazing features.

I guess everyone will have their own opinion as to what game will be better so finding a definitive answer to the question will be difficult but hopefully once GTA IV is released on the 29th of April 2008 a lot of attention will be focused towards Saints row 2 and then I imagine the developers will be releasing a lot more details about the features of the game. LET THE BATTLE COMENCE!!

We can reveal that on Thursday 7th of Feb 2008, 1up.com released 17 exclusive screenshots of Saints row 2. The images show things such as what the player customisation may look like, the car surfing and a few of the images show the "darker side" of saints row 2 that the developers were discussing when the game was released. Although there are not many new features to reveal it is encouraging to see a few more screenshots of the progress being made. If you wish to view all the images for yourself click here.

Probably one of the most exciting features that will be introduced into the up and coming Xbox 360 and PS3 title Saints row 2 is the introduction of being able to make your own gang. Although not much information has been released about what the gang feature will involve, Australian website gameplayer.com.au has released an article giving us some details about what the new gang feature will be like. They suggest that "Rather than play as one of the three gangs from the original, you’ll be able to create an original syndicate from scratch, and create a unique look for your members." This has the potential to be an amazing feature for Saints row 2 and one that I am very much looking forward to.

The article is split into two parts the second part releases a few more details about what type of gangs could be involved within Saints row 2, they commented that "We’ve been doing a bit of digging and from the cast list it appears as if the types of gangs you’ll encounter are going to be a lot more varied, too. One actor is listed as a ‘voodoo gang leader’ and another as ‘Ronin’ which suggests there’ll be a Japanese gang." this should give Saints row a totally different feel to it instead of just sticking to the traditional type of gang for this type of platform game. Once details are released it will be interesting to see if we are going to be able to customise the type of gang we want, Italian mafia, Colombian looking gangs etc. I imagine a few more details about this will be released over the next few weeks but it all does sound very promising indeed!
