Online website ign.com has today released 9 new screenshots of Saints row 2. Details have also emerged about new featured weapons within the game, new gangs and also more details about the crib customization are now known. Firstly lets discuss the new gang details that have emerged, Nate Ahearn, writer for ign.com said this about the gangs “Gone are the days of Los Carnales, the Vice Kings, and the Westside Rollerz and they've been replaced by three entirely new gangs.” we were not given the names of all three of the new gangs but the name of one of the gangs was mentioned “The single gang that we were shown during our demo was known as Sons of Samedi.” my guess is that the gang members wearing the green attire are likely to be the Sons of Samedi. Details are given about one of the missions we will be undertaking in Saints row 2 “We weren't given much background information beyond the mission objective which was to blow up a certain number of trailers that were being used to run drugs.” An interesting mission, of which some screenshots are available.
Fancy using cars as makeshift bombs? “Well, thanks to the new satchel charge weapon, you can. Simply hop out of your ride, set a charge (or five) on the hood, get it going in the proper direction, ditch the whip and watch it careen into the side of the trailer as you press the detonate button.” This weapon sounds amazing, we were told a few months ago we would be able to plant bombs onto people and cars, but now we have a few more details about this new weapon feature. Nate Ahearn then went on to comment about the Landscape that we can expect in Saints row 2’s city of Stilwater “The rest of our time in the Sons of Samedi mission was spent perusing the surrounding environment. It was a desert setting that didn't exactly fit with the metropolitan motif of the first game.” Possibly similar to the outback settings in GTA SA, there are no screenshots available of the desert setting but it gives the map a more realistic feel having different areas to discover and explore.
Now onto the exciting stuff! Saints row is well known for being able to customise a character and making the character as personal as possible, we already know about being able to create a female character and about the voice customization, however the article then went on to say “Everyone expects to be able to change your face, the length of your brow and the contours of your character's mouth, but Volition is taking things a few steps further. Now you'll be able to change their taunt, compliment, walk and combat styles. Taunt options include things like The Dumper, Dog Pissing, Ride the Donkey, The Wanker, and Tea Bag.” I feel this feature will be used a lot on the Xbox live multiplayer games! Last but certainly not least the crib customization, I believe in pictures telling a thousand words, so I won’t say much about this feature but it appears that we will now be able to choose between cheap, classy and ultra modern as we begin to customise our cribs. It is not too clear whether we are able to buy each individual item or whether the crib style is pre-set and then we have to add other items. We are told however that “You can upgrade your pad with things like a stripper pole, nicer electronics” these features sound excellent; I guess we will know more details about this as more information emerges.
This has been quite a big update of information, the features sound fantastic, the screenshots are looking very detailed and crisp, I personally cant wait until the release date now!
